CIVIC LANE
President Karol Nawrocki has refused to approve legislation intended to strengthen protections against fraudulent or dangerous unproven medical treatments, instead sending it for constitutional review and proposing his own legislation. Prime Minister Donald Tusk accused him of standing “with charlatans” rather than sick people. The president’s camp argues the rejected legislation gave excessive power to regulators and could hurt legitimate businesses. The dispute mixes patient safety, alternative medicine, government censorship and Poland’s increasingly bitter president–government conflict. That combination gives it strong viral potential well beyond traditional political audiences.
